Christmas lawn decorations is always a delight to everyone. For me, whenever I come across them, I experience a surge of real excitement which makes me just love the holiday season. Same goes for most children and adults, it spreads a subtle message of hope, love, peace and goodwill.
Perfect for decorating your lawns are large sized Christmas figurines such as Santa Claus, his sleigh, reindeer, nutcrackers, the nativity set made up of Joseph, Mary, baby Jesus in swaddling clothes and some animals in a stable; angels, the wise men, a star, wrapped gift boxes and so on.
When using figures you should take into consideration the space available to you. If your space is small, a single large ornament may be attractive enough. But if you happen to have a large space, by all means place a couple around. Please use your discretion. I am sure you would not want your well meaning Christmas lawn decorations to look like a circus.
I suggest you choose a theme on which your decoration will be based. As an example, you can decide to focus on Santa Claus or on the nativity, gold, blue, red, or green color theme. If you are focusing on Santa Claus for instance, you should have figures like Santa in his sleigh, reindeer’s either grazing or standing alone or in a group,one or two elves etc. If you’ll rather go for the nativity then figures like Mary and Joseph, a stable with animals and a baby Jesus in swaddling clothes.
Do not forget to:
- Use lighted lawn ornaments to create a captivating sight within your lawns when it gets dark.
- Stick to the Christmas color themes.
- Purchase lawn decorations that can withstand outdoor conditions such as snow, cold or heat.
- Use inflatables for some of the figures

Some people find that lawn decorations are a little garish – especially here in the UK. But I’m a massive fan…I cant help but feel a bit more secure knowing that there’s a snowman guarding my house
I love to decorate outside for the holidays and I love seeing all the decorated homes around the neighborhood since forever. A nativity scene is always a welcome sight to see once in a while too.
It’s too bad that in my country you don’t see such amazing displays on Christmas. People around here don’t use lawn decorations, just a few lights at the windows.
I wish I could see more decorations like the ones you have in US, they are amazing.

I agree that the lawn decorations can be fun to look at … as long as they are done tastefully. Of course, you can get a big laugh out of the ridiculous amount of stuff some people manage to cram into their front yards.
Done right they really can help get you in the spirit of Christmas … especially when a whole street participates.
