This Christmas transform your lawns and go traditional with an outdoor lighted Nutcracker.
Nutcrackers are devices originally crafted to assist humans in cracking nuts. They have long been in use even before Christ. Originating from the ore mountains. Its invention has been attributed to a renowned philosopher, Aristotle. The figure consists of a large mouth into which the nut is inserted and using the lever principle the lever is pulled down forcing the nut to open.
The function of cracking nuts however, has been replaced. People now use nutcrackers more as a decorative and collectible item rather than its traditional function of cracking nuts. Other times they are giving to children as toys and very special gifts to adults.
Much has also be written about the nutcracker, in stories, music and movies.
Nutcracker Christmas decorations come in various wooden forms, ranging from wooden carvings of a king, soldier, knight and more recently cartoon characters, American founding fathers, people from history,characters from television programmes and so much more. All of which can be lighted for outdoor and indoor use, in large, medium and small sizes.
Some of the most popular nutcracker wooden creations are Steinbeck, Erzgebirge, and Ulbricht nutcrackers.

Nutcrackers are so popular now that most people have no idea that they were actually designed for a specific purpose. This does not bother me at all since the make beautiful outdoor Christmas decorations.

I’ve always been facinated with Nutcrackers and display several of them on my mantel every Christmas. But until I read your blogpost, it had never occurred to me to use them as a lawn ornament. Very cool idea.

Lighted Nutcracker scenes are a great alternative to the nativity scenes people usually use to decorate their front lawns. You can use a prelit Christmas tree for this scene too.

I always enjoy the little Nutcrackers in Christmas decorations. They are perky and festive. Somehow, before reading your post I had not associated the decorative Nutcracker with the functional nutcracker that I have in my kitchen drawer. They are a wonderful Christmas decoration.
My son’s grandmother has given him a different Nutcracker every year for Christmas for 16 years. They are everywhere and I think it’s time to start with outside Nutcracker decorations.

What a great idea for lawn decorating at Christmas time. Usually you see the traditional nativity scene or snowmen and Santa Claus. I love the idea of decorating with a nutcracker theme since this is such a popular Christmas show.
